I love this song as much as I hate Cicero — which is high praise indeed!

To be fair, the lyrics include “like an exile in Mantua”, clear Don Quixote reference, so for all I can tell, Andi Sexgang mightn’t at all be referencing the Roman emperor. His approach to songwriting often seems very Dalian surrealist, with no clear meaning to anything. Like, I love seeing people insert meaning into Un Chien Andalou, when it pretty much was just a bunch of random, dream-like sequences of imagery that, alone, might’ve been significant (and can indeed seem intentionally Freudian, or anti-Freudian), but together they’re not intended to make any sense, he and Luis Bunel just wanted to make a film that’d get talked about.
