I’ve had a moderately hectic two weeks. The big window in my room needed to be replaced, which stirred up allergens. I had an appointment in Ann Arbor to get a filling replaced that I had to completely re-arrange my current sleeping habits for — and by the time I got to Ann Arbor, it occurred to me that the “minor task” I had intended to accomplish whilst in town —obtaining a replacement bow and (hopefully) shoulder rest for my viola— could not be done in the best possible manner, as I had left the house on so little sleep, and was waken up by my housemate maybe 45minutes before I had to leave (leaving me no real time for a shower or a proper breakfast, or even remember to take my medications — leaving me no defenses against my allergies while getting that filling replaced, so I ended up coughing up phlegm periodically in the process, dragging the process out far longer than it needed to be), and so I forgot my viola before leaving the house, meaning I couldn’t actually buy a shoulder rest, as the only violas they had in stock were either half an inch too big, or half an inch too small, and none of them were an electric of similar body (and they wouldn’t have one, anyway — I play a Zeta EVL of a slightly different design that was modified several years before the company went under in 2010). On the good side, I guess, that saved me about $40, as the shoulder rest that worked best for me (at least on the slightly-too-small viola I was getting an idea of how things might fit me with) is also the model that pretty much breaches my budget — well, that and the only version of that model they had in was the gold-backed, which is really only necessary for acoustic players, and is also $30 more than the plastic-backed model.
So, I’m going to list the order I *hope* to get the next few weeks of posts in — I may change things up a bit if I get distracted around the time of the Dionysia or similar:
(new New Boeotian Calendar should be ready no later than about this point — sorry for the arse-draggery this year)
Demeter & Kore and (just to best make use of space) also Demeter, and Persephone (to coincide with the Thesmophoria) [2012-05-07 --repositioned, sue me]
Posiedon [2012-05-08 --moved up three slots]
Herakles, Daktylos Herakles
regional terrestrial divinities (river gods, naiades, etc…)
minor weather deities
mythocal/legendary kings of Boiotia
other Boiotian mythology
If I can think of Anybody I left out, I’ll add Them as soon as I can.
